about

I was serving in Ocala, Florida at a little restaurant called La Cuisine, an excellent restaurant that was owned and operated by two French families. The demographic that showed up the restaurant was often the more well to do among the city. One thing I saw quite often was also a very large over 50 population. Among those well to do, over 50, and male there was a common trait; a very young wife - the ‘sugar baby’. I also had an opportunity to see those who were proportionately aged to have been sugar babies since their 20’s, and were now 50 plus with a man that they imagined would have been dead long ago… The sugar baby-

lyrics

Verse 1
A lil’ angel she/ wasn’t nothing but a twinkle/ daddy sought to be the best of all types of people/ some thought em decent and others said he was evil/ her mama saw in him a king and she wanted be regal/ having only known life broke and her mother single/ she didn’t want to just survive she wanted to reach eagles/ she didn’t just mingle she wanted to be equals/ not necessarily Hebrew/ but one of the chosen people/ so she chose to see through/ how he satisfied his sweet tooth/ objectitied her body turned her kitty into Pringles/ pop’ pop’ it never stop/ stop make her body tingle/ the ring was heavy and the money that it brings to/ beautiful cars crafted from the hands of a man/ dim lights flickering candles in france/ they both knew before he asked she gave her hand in advance a piece of her soul died and the ambulance danced/ a piece of her soul died and the ambulance danced/-

Verse 2
Taking the road back home back home / and traveling down her spine out of the fountain of her mind / curled and the serpent poised to strike / she knew what the boys were like and liked that the boys liked how she felt / fit that tip in the belt and said they’d never love anyone else / next day new girl and he ringin her bell wit a brand new story to tell / champagne, in glorious hell / auditioning sortin out the seasonal help / sunset and the evening fell / night spread all the bad feelings he felt / feeling alone feeling afraid/ feeling his shoe size not his age / still in the zone, still in a daze / killin a poem, pissed at a dame / can’t turn the page / trying to find a new chapter/ so they never learned what happens after/ giving up a soul that glow ,that glow/ having a feel good time/ thinking its really not so bad as long as nobody actually dies/ with a rose exposed to the blistering cold morning dew drips to a spike/ petals grow sharp with the edge of a knife and now every kiss is with ice/ when your worlds like dune and the water runs dry you’ll still be in search of the spice/ be pissed if you like and dismiss this advice but there is a consequence
