about

In Augusta Georgia, there are these two high schools, “Laney Walker” and “Josie”… I remember going to their football games as a kid, must’ve been 3 or 4, you know where you are just starting to actually get cognitive memories. So it was big things that stuck out, I can’t really remember if there were a lot of people or if the stands were only half full, but what was vivid were the bands. “No one went to the games to the see football teams” is what I remembered hearing relatives say; I am sure that was an exaggeration, but I understood the statement these bands were bad ASS. Even if there were no real action on the field you would wait at least until half time to hear these bands battle on the drumlins- That’s where this beat brought me back to, and it was so intense that I had to place lyrics with a lot of emotion and fight over the song to create something that would maximize the mood of the instrumental. Quite possibly the most spitfire song I’ve written to date-

lyrics

Chorus
Full sail regatta/ if you got it then you got it/ if not then its not an option/ most people settle never fulfilling their callin’/ spilling the milk and bawling/ turning yellow and jaundice/ penny loafers and pampas

2x
I’ll beat the brakes off and ape it the top of the eighth/ and pull the spine out the swine in the top of the nine/ and by the end of the game they’ll remember name Mr.Saint at the gates been dangling chains

Verse 1
I never learned the meaning of quit/ fully equipped/ swinging them fists/ never seen me in a grip homie I rip/ don’t think I’m rude because I’m speaking in spit/ an breath flame til the ceiling is lit/ speech game got ya team in a grip/ neverstop hell’ah raw when I’m getting it on/ emcee’s in the corner and they pleading the fifth/ Tellah on bet it all man I’m ready to fall/ emcees in the corner and they pleading the fifth/ been poor been broke like most my life/ I aint quite black and I aint quite white/ I don’t speak Spanish so the spicks don’t like me/ they threw a bottle when I was kid just riding/ on my bike outside excited/ mama inside at night she fighting/ and she’d holler and shed scream/ that and stomping were the sound of my dreams/ so homie you don’t scare me not a little bit ‘of’ barely/ ya sweeter than Ben n’ Jerry’s/ ya needing a lil’ fairy dust to be fly/ seed in a cemetery while I lust to be live/ confused? Company move/ a little bit of liquor got me feeling the mood/ ready willing to prove the illest villain you knew/ an see the name Saint Tellah wasn’t nothing to them/ but I made a name spitting not sucking a dick/ coming to grips ya girl nutting to this/ and if you wanna get it busy gotta couple of fists/ and nothing to lose/ so step inside the grinder and I’ll crumble ya crew/ an it’s not like I’m the brightest but ya’ll bumbling fools- In this life you gotta hustle/ tooth nails an knuckles/ juke fail to fumble/ two bells to rumble/ in truth these fools is too frail and buckle/ fuckin’ punks-

Chorus
Full sail regatta/ if you got it then you got it/ if not then its not an option/ most people settle never fulfilling their callin’/ spilling the milk and bawling/ turning yellow and jaundice/ penny loafers and pampas
